Judge less, empathize more

I find the older I get, the more I realize how pointless it is to judge others. Do I know what it’s truly like to live someone else’s life? Do I understand their struggles or hopes and dreams?

Additionally, I find myself wanting to distance myself from others who focus on the flaws of others. It is interesting that the most judgemental people seem to be the most offended when they are criticized for their own behavior or perceived shortcomings.

If you don’t have anything nice to say, I think it’s a good idea not to say anything at all. It sounds simple, but I know I have been guilty of it myself many times before.

I challenge myself on a regular basis to focus on my role in making myself and the world around me a better place.

In the end, what are you revealing about yourself by judging others for their perceived shortcomings?

Here is an article that sums things up quite nicely.
